Frequently Asked Questions
Counselling offers a safe and supportive space to heal, be heard, and explore your thoughts, emotions and experiences without judgement. Whether you're navigating grief, anxiety, sexuality, family conflict, major life transitions, body positivity, or trauma, counselling helps you gain clarity, develop helpful coping strategies, and channel your inner strengths.
If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or struggling with your mental health or relationships, counselling can provide support, guidance and tools to cope. Even if you're hesitant to start, a first session can help to clarify if it's a good fit for you.
Yes, our sessions are confidential, with the exception of evidence of clear and imminent danger of harm to self and/or others. It is legally required to report this information to the relevant individuals responsible for ensuring safety. Confidentiality boundaries are always discussed with the client, should any boundaries need to be crossed.

Your first session is a gentle introduction — a chance to get comfortable with each other, talk about what brings you to counselling, and set goals that feel right for you. There’s no pressure or expectation — just a welcoming space to begin your journey at your own pace.
A session is typically 50 minutes. Weekly or bi-weekly sessions often allow for the most progress in counselling, however the frequency of sessions is completely up to you and your schedule and needs.
I completely understand that things come up, but I ask that if you need to reschedule or cancel a session, please give at least 24 hours’ notice. To respect both your time and others waiting for appointments, sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged in full.
I offer a range of services to meet different needs:
Individual Counselling: A safe, accepting space to explore emotions, strengthen coping skills, and build self-awareness.
Couples Counselling: Support for partners who want to communicate more effectively, rebuild trust, or deepen connection.
Group Counselling: Guided sessions focused on shared experiences such as anxiety, grief, or major life changes — offering collective support and insight.
Workshops & Talks: Interactive sessions for schools, workplaces, and community groups on topics like mental health, self-care, and ADHD.
The number of sessions is different for everyone. We will discuss this together with your goals and needs during our first few sessions and adjust as necessary. Counselling is often a short-term space for support and reflection, so the number of sessions may range from 3-12 depending on the complexity and depth of your emotional work. We will always move at a pace that feels right for you.
Payments can be made easily online after each session. You’ll receive an invoice via email for your records. Many medical aid schemes offer mental health benefits, though coverage varies. If you’d like to submit a claim, please contact your medical aid provider directly for assistance.
